Welcome to the official Mixtape blog, and thanks for visiting us. Shall we take your coat?
As you are no doubt already aware, whether you listened to the program or just found this blog through some other, Mixtape is a brand new Monday night program on Kalamunda Community Radio (102.5fm, from six to eight pm, to be exact). A mix of very disparate genres and sounds, from the loud and noisy to the smooth and funky, and many others in between. Just like mixtapes of yore. Except, y’know, without the handwritten labels, scribbled out errors and excessive (yet beautiful) tape hiss. Each week brings a new and different mixtape to your ears, free of charge through your beat up lil’ radio.
Unfortunately, as KCR doesn’t have a live stream, if you are unable to hear it in Western Australia you’ll be unable to hear it at all. HOWEVER(-EVER-ER!!!) this blog will feature the weekly setlist, videos, journalistic vomit and as much bonus content as I can possibly provide. I am also currently looking into methods to make the weekly mixtape able to be heard through other methods for those who can’t hear it otherwise, but I’ll let you know how that pans out.
Just a warning though, although hopefully it won’t be a big deal for those who are taking interest in this blog, while the live radio program is as clean and profanity-free as possible I cannot say the same for this blog. Not to say the language will be too excessive, but be aware of that if language is an issue for you. If it is an issue, I don’t know, go and rent a Disney film or something.
For the rest of you, enjoy and dig.
